Double-Sided ID Composer
Put the front and back of an ID card on one A4 page as a PDF, with an optional faint text watermark. Takes JPG, PNG or PDF files. Runs in your browser.
About This Tool
Double-Sided ID Composer places two files, the front and the back of an ID card, one above the other on a single A4 page and saves the page as a PDF. It takes JPG and PNG pictures and PDF files; from a PDF it uses the first page only.
Each side is fitted, with its proportions kept, inside a box of 85.6 × 54 mm, the size of a standard ID or bank card. The tool does not find the card inside a photo, crop it or straighten it, so crop your pictures to the edges of the card first if you want the copy at real size.
You can add one line of text as a watermark. It is drawn in light gray at 15% opacity, slanted, 15 times across the whole page. Everything happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to Use
Add the two sides
Upload the front first, then the back, as JPG, PNG or PDF. The first file, shown on screen as "FRONT (Face)", goes in the upper position, and the second, shown as "BACK (Details)", in the lower one. A single file also works.
Set the watermark
Type your own text under "Anti-Copy Security Watermark Text", or empty the field for no watermark; it starts as FOR COPY ONLY. "ID Card Placement Height (points)" sets how tall the box is (153 points is about 54 mm), not where the card sits.
Create and download
Click "Generate ID Tiling Sheet", then "Download" to save the one-page A4 PDF. To change the watermark or the height afterwards, change it and click the button again.
Use Cases
Job and HR paperwork
Hand in one printable page that shows both sides of your ID, instead of two separate photos.
Bank and government forms
Prepare the one-page ID copy that many applications ask for, with a line of text that says what the copy is for.
Travel copies
Keep a one-page copy of a residence card or a driver license with your travel papers. A passport page works too, but it is scaled down to fit the card-sized box.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the watermark hide the details on the card?
No. It is light gray at 15% opacity, so the card stays readable. On the white part of the page it is very faint. The watermark says what the copy is for; it does not stop anyone from copying or editing the page.
Is the card printed at its real size?
The box is 85.6 × 54 mm. A picture cropped to the edges of the card fills the box and prints at real size when you print the PDF at 100% (actual size) on A4. A photo with background around the card, or a passport page, is scaled down to fit inside the box.
Which documents and files can I use?
Any card or document page, such as a driver license or a residence card: the tool only places pictures and does not read them. Files must be JPG, PNG or PDF; anything else is refused. Only the first two files are kept; to swap front and back, click "Clear" and add them in the other order.
