Invert Colors
Reverse the colours of every page of a PDF for reading on a dark background. Each page comes back as an image.
About This Tool
Invert Colors reverses every colour on every page of a PDF: white becomes black, black becomes white, and pictures become their negatives. A black-on-white document turns white-on-black, which many people find easier to read in the dark.
There are no settings. Each page is redrawn as an image at about 216 dpi and the colours of that image are reversed, pictures included. In the new file the text can no longer be selected, searched or copied, links, bookmarks and form fields are gone, and the file can be much larger than the original.
All processing happens locally in your browser, ensuring your documents remain private.

Use Cases
Night Reading
Create dark mode versions of documents for comfortable reading at night.
Reduce Eye Strain
Invert bright documents to reduce eye fatigue during extended reading.
Print Savings
Invert dark slides or screenshots so that they print on white. An ordinary black-on-white document would use more ink, not less.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will images be inverted too?
Yes, always. The whole page is inverted as one picture; there is no option to leave photos or diagrams as they are.
Can I invert only specific pages?
No. Every page of the file is inverted. To invert only some pages, take them out with Extract Pages first and invert that file.
Is the inversion reversible?
Inverting the result again brings the colours back, but not the document: the pages stay images, without selectable text, links or bookmarks. Keep your original file.
