Text to PDF

Turn plain text files, or text you paste, into a PDF. Choose the font, size, colour, line spacing and page size.

About This Tool

Text to PDF turns plain text into a PDF. Upload up to 10 .txt files at a time, which are joined into one PDF, or switch to "Enter Text" and paste. Choose the font, its size and colour, the line spacing and the page size; the margins are fixed at one inch.

Each line of the file stays a line of its own, with the spaces it begins with and the spacing between its words, so indented text and columns keep their shape (best in Courier, where every character is as wide as the next). A line too long for the page wraps between words, and a word too long for a line is cut at its end. Untick "Preserve line breaks" to run the lines of each paragraph together and fill the page. Files saved as UTF-8, as Notepad's "Unicode", or in the older Arabic and Western code pages are all read.

All conversion happens in your browser, ensuring your files remain private. Six of the fonts (Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Thai, Devanagari) are downloaded from raw.githack.com when first chosen; your text is not sent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fonts are available?

Twelve, including Courier (monospace) and Noto fonts for Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Thai and Devanagari. For Hebrew, Thai or Hindi text choose the matching font, or the letters come out as empty boxes.

Is line wrapping automatic?

Yes, between words. A single word longer than the line, such as a long web address, is cut at the end of the line and goes on in the next.

Can I preserve formatting?

Yes. The spaces at the start of a line and between words are kept, and a tab becomes four spaces. For text set out in columns choose Courier, the one font here in which every character has the same width.
