Edit Attachments
See the files attached to a PDF, save copies of them and remove the ones you do not want. Runs in your browser.
About This Tool
Edit Attachments lists the files attached to a PDF, with their sizes, and lets you save a copy of any of them and remove the ones you tick. It cannot rename an attachment or add one.
A removed file is taken out of the PDF itself, not only off its list: its contents are not in the file you download, and nor is the record of its name. A file pinned to several pages is removed from all of them. The attachments you keep are not touched: they keep their names, descriptions and dates, and a pinned file keeps its place on the page. The pages, bookmarks and form fields are not touched either.
A file that is inside the PDF without being in the list a PDF reader shows is listed as well, with a note, and can be removed like the others. Everything happens in your browser; the file is not uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add new attachments here?
Use the Add Attachments tool to embed new files.
Is removal permanent?
Yes. The contents of a removed file are not in the output file, so it cannot be recovered from it. The PDF you uploaded is not changed.
Can I preview attachments?
There is no preview, but "Download" beside each file saves a copy you can open. The list shows the name and size of each file, the pages for a file pinned to pages, and the description the PDF gives.
Why is a file listed that my PDF reader does not show?
Some PDFs keep a second list of the files that go with them; PDF/A-3 documents, such as electronic invoices, do. A file that is only in that list is inside the PDF, and the attachments panel of a reader does not show it. An earlier version of this tool, before October 2026, took a removed file off the list a reader shows and left it in the second one, so the file stayed in the PDF. Such files are listed here with a note: tick them and remove them, and they are gone from the file.
