Add Attachments

Put other files inside a PDF: spreadsheets, pictures, source files. Attach them to the whole document or pin them to pages. Runs in your browser.

About This Tool

Add Attachments puts other files inside a PDF: spreadsheets, images, source files, anything. They travel with the PDF and can be taken out again later.

A file can go with the whole document, where a PDF program lists it in its attachments panel, or be pinned to pages you name, where it shows as a small paper clip in the top-left corner of each of those pages. A file pinned to several pages is in the PDF once. Files that were attached already stay, and a new file whose name one of them has is attached under a name of its own, such as report (2).csv. The rest of the PDF, bookmarks and form fields included, is left as it was.

To get at the files, a reader needs a PDF program that shows attachments; not every viewer does. Everything happens in your browser; the files are not uploaded.

How to Use

  1. Upload Your PDF

Drag and drop your PDF file or click to select.

  2. Add Attachments

Add the files to attach, up to 50 at a time. Under "Where the files go", keep "With the whole document", or choose "Pinned to pages" and type the pages; leave the box empty for every page.

  3. Attach and Download

Click "Attach the files". The page says how many files were attached, and to how many pages; click "Download" to save the PDF, with _with_attachments added to its name.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file types can be attached?

Any type, and each file goes in as it is. A password-protected PDF added as an attachment stays protected: its password is not asked for.

Is there a size limit?

Each file, the PDF and every attachment, can be up to 200 MB, and up to 50 attachments can be added at a time. The total is not checked.

Can recipients extract attachments?

Yes, with a PDF program that shows attachments; not every viewer does. Extract Attachments on this site lists them and saves them.
