Sanitize PDF
Remove what a PDF carries besides its pages: properties and metadata, scripts, attached files and links that lead outside the document.
About This Tool
Sanitize PDF takes out of a document what it carries besides its pages: document properties and metadata, scripts, attached files, and links that lead outside the document. Form fields are flattened into the page, and comments are removed if you choose.
Use it before a document is published or sent on, when what is inside the file matters as much as what is on the page.
What is removed is left out of the file itself, not just hidden, and the tool lists what it found. Everything happens in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
What hidden data is removed?
Document properties and XMP metadata, scripts, attached files, and links that lead outside the document. Form fields are flattened: what was typed stays visible on the page and can no longer be edited. Comments are removed only if you tick Remove Annotations. Content on hidden layers is not removed.
Will visible content be affected?
The pages look the same. Links that led outside the document stop working, forms can no longer be filled in, and comments disappear if you chose to remove them.
Is this reversible?
No, removed data cannot be recovered. Keep a backup of the original.
