Remove Restrictions

Remove PDF restrictions. Unlock printing, copying, and editing permissions.

About This Tool

Remove Restrictions takes the limits on printing, copying and editing off a PDF. For a file that opens without a password nothing more is needed: add it and click the button. The owner password is not required.

A file that asks for a password when it is opened must be given that password. Type it in the "Owner Password (optional)" box; the password that opens the file works there as well as the owner password, and the result then has neither password nor limits. Otherwise leave the box empty, because a wrong entry stops the tool. A digital signature in the file is no longer valid afterwards.

All processing happens in your browser, ensuring your documents remain private.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this legal?

Removing restrictions from documents you own or have rights to is generally legal.

Can it remove open passwords?

Only if you know the password. Type the password that opens the file in the "Owner Password (optional)" box, and the result has no password at all. Without the password the file cannot be opened here, and Decrypt PDF needs it as well.

Will content be affected?

The pages stay as they are. Any password on the file is removed along with the limits, and a digital signature stops being valid, though it still looks the same on the page.
